About the Department

Engineers in vehicle design and manufacturing are urgently need in Modern automotive industries. With this great vision, the Department of Automobile Engineering was established in 2011to train the students in the area of automobile engineering. This course gains significance for those who are passionate about automobiles, Since Chennai is the automobile hub of India, with Ford,Hyundai, BMW, Ashok Leyland and others.

Academics

Undergraduate

B.E program in Automobile Engineering is to give students a broad exposure in the design, development and testing of automobiles. Furthermore, the program trains them to meet the technological challenges and diverse needs of the industry and society in various areas of automobile engineering and equips them to excel in a truly competitive industry.

machanical

Fundamental study topics on fluid mechanics and machinery, strength of materials & LC engines ,manufacturing technology, mechanics of solids, materials engineering and metallurgy, modern manufacturing methods, energy systems and environmental engineering, dynamicsof Machinery & control, Computer Aided

Design (CAD), computer aided process planning, Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM), automobile components engine performance and emission testing, fuels and combustion testing, two wheelers and three wheelers testing and others.

Faculty & Research

The department has a team of highly qualified, dedicated and experienced teachers. They specialized in IC Engines, Alternative fuels, Automotive Technology, Automotive Design, Production, Thermal and Electric Vehicles. Research activities are in progress in the areas of alternative fuels, Engine systems, vehicle dynamics and newtrends in engine design.
